Dr. Akeem Waite serves as an Associate Scientist at Tritica Biosciences, where he advances protein biochemistry and molecular biology research to support the company’s mission of transforming grain-based biotechnology. He brings expertise in cell biology, proteasome regulation, protein purification, and tissue culture systems.
His research career bridges both academic and government laboratories. As a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the University of Kansas Medical Center, he investigated the molecular pathways that regulate proteasome relocalization under stress. During his doctoral research at Kansas State University, he discovered new mechanisms of proteasome autophagy. Akeem has published extensively, including six first-author peer-reviewed articles on proteasome regulation. His earlier roles at the USDA Agricultural Research Service focused on vector ecology and virology, where he contributed to developing diagnostics for livestock diseases.
Dr. Waite holds a PhD in Biology and a bachelor’s degree in Biology from Kansas State University, as well as a Technical Certificate in Advanced Biotechnology from Manhattan Area Technical College
